Updating the SHC
The best way to update the SHC to the latest version is the online update via the LIVISI Cloud:
- Log into the LIVISI app and check the messages to see if you have a message about a new software version
- In the event that you are not offered anything, you can either wait (the SHC checks for new updates every 24 hours) or restart the SHC via "Help > Troubleshooting" (the restart also checks for updates)
If you want to find out the current version:
- Go into the app and look under “Settings > Central Unit”
- Without app:
- Classic SHC: Press the button below the display - the serial number is shown in the display alongside other data
- SHC 2.0: Call up the address http://IP_adresse_des_SHCs/status or http://shcontroller01/status in an Internet browser.
Try This...
In the event that you are not offered an update, or the SHC aborts the update with an error, we have the following advice:
- You must have accepted the latest version of the Terms of Service in order to receive updates. If you haven't already, log in with your primary user (not local) and agree to the current Terms of Service.
- Always switch-off the SHC 2.0 with a long (5-6s) press on the power button before disconnecting it from the power supply. This also applies if you want to force a restart.
- Disconnect the SHC from the power supply for several hours to perform a deep discharge of the SHC hardware.
- Connect the SHC directly to the router using a network cable to enable the best possible Internet connection for downloading the large update files.
- Give the SHC time to apply the updates. Especially on brand-new, boxed SHCs or if no updates have been applied for a long time, up to 5 updates have to be applied one after the other. Note that the SHC only searches for new update packages at restart or shortly after midnight. There have been cases where took 4 days to update to the latest version.
- If too few memory is available, carry out the following actions step by step:
- If you got a message and a "Cleanup" button is offered, then click it
- Set up local SmartHome and then gradually delete the various data via "Settings > Device activities"
- If Samsung cameras are used, delete them and the driver. After the update, they can be installed again
- Reset SHC to factory settings, restart, wait for update, set up again
- Version numbers: The number is divided into two parts, the operating system is before the hyphen and then the SmartHome app follows: OS-SHC App
If none of this works, you can also try the following:
Classic SHC
Most (not too old) SHC can be updated via USB stick:
- The USB update should always be the last option if the procedures described above for performing the online update fail. It is the last chance to get a SHC up and running. Carrying out the USB update is at your own risk.
- OS version 1.914 is mandatory for the local SmartHome and operation of the control panel from March 1, 2024
- Download the latest software package (version 1.914-3.1.1111.0) here
The operating system/OS may have to be updated first: If you don't know which version your SHC has or the version number doesn't start with 1.914:
- Copy the nk_signed.bin file from the archive to the root directory of an empty Fat32 formatted USB stick (ideally less than 16GB)
- Turn off the SHC (power off)
- Connect the USB stick to the SHC
- Turn on the SHC
- Remove the USB stick when the SHC shows "remove USB" or "pull USB" on the display
- Wait until the SHC has completed the update
The update of the SmartHome app: Proceed as follows for the actual update of the SmartHome app of the SHC:
- Copy the shc.zip file from the archive to the root directory of an empty Fat32 formatted USB stick (ideally less than 16GB)
- Turn off the SHC (power off)
- Connect the USB stick to the SHC
- Turn on the SHC
- Remove the USB stick when the SHC shows "remove USB" or "pull USB" on the display
- Wait until the SHC has completed the update
SHC 2.0
The control center 2.0 can always be updated via USB. However, please note that it is not possible to update the operating system via USB.
Operation of the local SmartHome with operating system versions lower than 8.17 (e.g. 8.16-1.1.22.363) has not been tested, but should be possible.
- The USB update should always be the last option if the procedures described above for performing the online update fail. It is the last chance to get a SHC up and running. Carrying out the USB update is at your own risk.
- Download the latest software package (version 1.2.44.498) here
- Extract the file to an empty USB stick formatted with Fat32. This should then contain the following:
- Folder /shca-app-update-1.2.44.498/ with an "rpm" file
- Folder /shca-app-update-1.2.44.498/repodata/ with 8 files
- Turn off the SHC with a long (5-6s) press on the power button
- Connect the USB stick to the SHC
- Turn on the SHC
- Wait until the SHC has completed the update (LED lights up or flashes green)
- Remove the USB stick
Device firmware
Since there are always requests for updates for the firmware of the devices, here is some information on this topic. Basically, the devices do not need any special updates to work with the local SmartHome after March 1, 2024.
The basic rules are:
- If a device works without problems, it probably does not need a new FW
- If the devices do not automatically receive new software, then everything is ok
If devices of the same type have different firmware versions:
- Even if devices look the same and were maybe even bought at the same time, they can come from different batches and therefore require different firmware.
- Please also note that battery-powered devices such as the WDS require "actions" to transfer the FW piece by piece to the device. The door/window has to be opened/closed a few times until the update has been transferred.
- The batteries should also be in good condition to receive FW updates.
